On Sept. 18, the Labette County Grizzlies pulled ahead in the fourth quarter to win their homecoming game 29-28 in Altamont, Kansas, against the Emporia Spartans. This is the first time the Grizzlies have played Emporia in the history of their program.
Senior Homecoming King Deontae Fields had two touchdowns and a two-point conversion. When reflecting on the game, Coach Argabright said, “Our Grizzlies fought hard all night and played an excellent second half in coming from behind to beat previously undefeated Emporia.”
Earlier in the week, the freshman volleyball team traveled to Pittsburg, Kansas. They beat both Chanute and Pittsburg in two sets, remaining undefeated on the season.
